S. Folch et al., OPTICAL AND VIBRATIONAL-SPECTRA OF SOLS SOLUTIONS OF POLYANILINE - WATER AS SECONDARY DOPANT/, Synthetic metals, 81(2-3), 1996, pp. 221-225
The nature of polyaniline (2A or 2S form) dissolved in concentrated su
lfuric and methanesulfonic acid has been investigated by (UV-Vis-NIR)
optical absorption and Raman scattering using various exciting laser l
ines. Two different polaronic species have been evidenced and selectiv
ely analysed, using N-15 labelled and perdeuterated ring derivatives.
Addition of water induces formation of 2S-like materials, probably for
ming a sol and not a true solution. The achievement of the metallic st
ate seems to be related to the ordering of the chains intercalated wit
h water, oxonium ions and anions.
