J. Ding et al., STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF ULTRAFINE FE POWDERS BY MECHANOCHEMICAL PROCESSING, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 162(2-3), 1996, pp. 271-276
Ultrafine Fe powders have been synthesized by mechanochemical processi
ng. The kinetics of the formation of metallic Fe by the reduction of F
eCl2 during mechanical milling has been studied. The influence of mill
ing conditions and reductant on structure and magnetic properties was
investigated. It is shown that the production of uniform nano-sized po
wders by mechanochemical processing requires a high particle-to-by-pro
duct ratio and avoidance of combustion by the use of low energy millin
g conditions or by the addition of diluents.
