Abstract
The 28-GHz local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) band will be u sed to deliver broadband wireless services to many users. Millimeter-w ave fiber links provide a low-loss method of distributing the multiple QAM channels to remote antennas from a central control station. Throu gh simulation, this paper examines the effects of chromatic dispersion of standard single-mode fiber on multichannel millimeter-wave transmi ssion at 1550 nn. It is shown that with proper planning broadband mult ichannel QAM transmission with acceptable CIR levels is possible over distances up to 80 km.
