Abstract
Life cycles of five eriophyid mite species developing in galls on the leaves of trees and shrups were studied, viz. Eriophyes liosoma on Til ia cordata, Phytoptus tiliae and Aceria on Tilia platyphyllos, Artacri s macrorhynchus on Acei campestre and Epitrimerus trilobus on Sambucus nigra. Only one generation of eriophyid mites develop inside galls on the leaves of their host giants during one year in Middle Europe. In autumn eriophyid mites move from leaves into the leaf buds where they hibernate till spring of the following year. The morphology and anatom y of Eriophyes fraxinivorus is given.
