In this work we present a theoretical study of EELS (electron-energy-l
oss spectroscopy) experiments on the C-60 molecule. Our treatment of t
he problem is based on the simple two-fluid model originally proposed
for the description of plasma oscillations in graphite and fullerenes
[J. Cazaux, Solid State Commun, 8 (1970) 545; Opt. Commun. 2 (1970) 17
3; G. Barton and C. Eberlein, J. Chem. Phys. 95 (1991) 1512]. It is sh
own that in spite of the simplicity of the model the calculated intens
ities of the EELS peaks are in good agreement with experimental data w
hich may indicate that the model can be used as a simple and effective
tool for the investigation of the collective behaviour of electrons i
n fullerene ne systems.
