Abstract
The resonant-tunneling lifetime in a one-dimensional symmetrical doubl e-barrier structure is calculated exactly based on the solution of the time-independent Schrodinger equation and the energy uncertainty cond ition. A simple analytical expression for the lifetime is obtained, an d its validity and accuracy is proved by extensive comparisons with ot her currently used numerical techniques.
