A. Rzama et al., STUDY OF GAMMA-PHOTON SELF-ABSORPTION IN STAINLESS-STEEL SAMPLES BY EXPERIMENTAL AND CALCULATIONAL METHODS, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 183(2), 1994, pp. 409-420
Gamma-ray self-absorption in stainless steel samples has been studied
with an experimental method based on fast neutron activation and a Mon
te Carlo calculation technique adapted to the experimental conditions.
A relation between self-absorption and absorption of gamma-photons in
side stainless steel samples was found. The influence of the gamma-ray
energy and sample depth have been investigated. Agreement between the
two methods has been found.
