Abstract
Details are provided of how to estimate, without extensive computer si mulations, the zero-field splitting parameter (D) of the Mn2+ ion char acterized by axial symmetry from forbidden-hyperfine doublet separatio ns in the central sextet of the Mn2+ EPR spectrum in a polycrystalline sample by the use of an analytic expression derived from the eigenval ues calculated to third order in perturbation.
