Abstract
The mixed-metal complexes [M(3)(S(2)CNR(2))(6)M'(2)](2+) (M = Pt or Pd ; M' = Ag or Cu; R = Pt, Pr-i, Pr-n, Bu(n) or C6H11 have been prepared quantitatively upon mixing stoichiometric amounts of [M(S(2)CNR(2))(2 )] and Ag+ or [Cu(MeCN)(4)](+) in dichloromethane. The structures of n ine of them have been determined and are classified into three types: one polymer and two discrete ion structures. Comparison of the structu res indicates the existence of a bonding interaction between M and M' that is greater for Pt than Pd and for Ag than Cu. The strong bonding interaction between the Pt and Ag atoms is also supported by the Pt-19 5-(107,109) Ag coupling constant of 194 Hz for [Pt-3(S(2)CNBu(2)(n))(6 )Ag-2](2+).
