Information content of the spectral measurements of the O2 0.76 mum ba
nd outgoing radiation in respect to the vertical aerosol optical chara
cteristics was analyzed using numerical simulations. It was shown that
a significant amount of the information about the coefficient of aero
sol scattering can be obtained for extended enough atmospheric layers,
for instant, for three layers in the troposphere and for the layer 10
- 30 km in the stratosphere. The method has a small informativity whe
n applied to reconstruction of aerosol scattering coefficient with hig
h vertical resolution (0.5 - 2 km) and in fact doesn't allow to get in
formation on absorbing properties of aerosol.
