Abstract
A new genus and species of gerbillids, Abudhabia baynunensis is descri bed. Other rodents identified are an indeterminate thryonomyid; a muri d, Parapelomys cf. charkhensis; two indeterminate species of Dendromus ; Myocricetodon sp. indet. and an indeterminate soricid. This associat ion of small mammals, the first from the Arabian late Miocene, compris es a mix of African and southwest Asian rodent faunas and indicates a Late Turolian (?Messinian) age for the fluvial part of the Baynunah Fo rmation.
