This article reports on the authors' 38 years of experience with intra
-arterial regional chemotherapeutic perfusion of melanoma of the limbs
using an extracorporeal oxygenated circuit and a heart-lung machine.
Of 1088 patients treated on one occasion, 1,55 had multiple perfusions
. The best results have been obtained with recurrent melanoma and intr
ansit or nodal metastases of the limb. The method described is useful
for adjunctive chemotherapy of poor-risk, stage I melanomas.
