Abstract
Effects of exogenous ganglioside G(M1) (1 mu M) from bovine brain on m orphology and biochemical characteristics (creatine kinase, acetylchol ine esterase, and adenylate cyclase activity; content of proteins, pho spholipids, and gangliosides) of cells were studied in mixed primary c ultures of fetal chicken brain. Introduction of the ganglioside into t he culture medium accelerated cell growth and differentiation. The con tent of phospho- and glycolipids in such cells was increased. In addit ion, the ganglioside stimulated the activity of several enzymes.
