Endovascular treatment for unruptured cerebral aneurysms has been reco
gnized as a useful alternative. Various types of intravascular materia
ls embolizing aneurysms were classified into one of two groups. One wa
s retrievable after the placement, whereas the other was irretrievable
. The former which has involved detachable coils is preferred, because
it can be repositioned repeatedly, while it forms the most effective
arrangement. In this report, we present a compromised patient who was
a 68 year-old female suffering angina pectoris and was treated with an
interlocking detachable coil. Technical points are discussed here com
pared with Guglielmi's detachable coil.
