Abstract
The mechanism responsible for phase separation in the cuprate supercon ductors is studied. It is argued that the doped holes are localized wi thin spin-polarized clusters which at higher doping concentrations sta rt to form a highly conducting metalic network. This picture allows us to understand the experimentally observed coexistence between antifer romagnetic and metalic regions.
