Enhanced growth of the (Pb,Bi)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+z phase grains has been
obtained by adding flux components as Sb2O3 and NaCl respectively. Til
e effects of such additives have been compared using XRD, SEM, EMA and
transport measurements. In the case of Sb2O3, 2223 phase grains up to
50 mu m dimension were grown, but with increasing amount of Sb2O3 par
tial decomposition of 2223 phase and deterioration of tile transport p
roperties were found. With NaCl, 100 mu m grains were formed and sharp
transition at 110 K was preserved, nevertheless for high amounts of N
aCl (up to 40% weight) the intergrowth of 2212 into 2223 phase appeare
d.
