A kinetic study has been performed for the growth of Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox (Bi
-2212) superconducting whiskers. The length of the Bi-2212 whiskers is
proportional to the square root of the growth time up to 500 h, indic
ating that a diffusion process is the rate-determining step. This resu
lt strongly supports the proposed mechanism of the Bi-2212 whiskers.
