Abstract
Monitoring and documentation of the quality of mouldings were hitherto virtually impossible to automate, could only be carried out on random samples and involved expensive test methods. Moreover, the test metho ds only allowed most features of the moulding, for example its dimensi ons and mechanical strength, to be determined hours or days later. The online continous quality control (CQC) method described here, on the other hand, allows the quality characteristics of the mouldings to be calculated highly accurately and during the production cycle. Through an exact knowledge of the process, CQC permits complete automation of quality control and therefore a drastic reduction in the number of rej ects.
