W. Heine, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE TECHNOLOGY FOR CEME NT CLINKER - DESCRIPTION OFTHE LARGE CLINKER STORES IN BELGIUM AND THAILAND, ZKG international. Edition B, 47(12), 1994, pp. 709-712
Clinker silos for storage capacities of 30 000 to 60 000 t are familia
r. They have diameters up to 34 m and heights up to 60 m. They normall
y have one extraction duct and achieve good final emptying rates of 80
%. The large cement works, such as have been built in Belgium and Thai
land, needed corresponding storage capacities. They had the option eit
her of building several clinker silos using the familiar method of con
struction, or of designing new large stores with capacities of about 1
50 000 t. Because of the lower building costs both works preferred to
build large stores with capacities of 140 000 and 150 000 t respective
ly. The clinker stores have diameters of 50 to 65 m and consist of a c
oncrete cylinder and a steel roof with sheet cladding with trapezoidal
corrugations. 2, 3 or 4 extractions ducts are provided, depending on
the silo diameter. The apron conveyors with widths of 1800 mm installe
d for feeding and emptying the silos are capable of conveying capaciti
es of 750 t/h.
