Abstract
A spectroscopic analysis of light emitted in the 2000-7000 Angstrom wa velength range by C3+ and C2+ ions following 60 keV C4+-Li collisions is performed. Transitions with Delta n = 1, 2 and 3 in C IV from n = 5 to 9 states produced by single electron capture are identified using atomic energy level data Transitions resulting from single electron ca pture by metastable C4+ 1s2s(S-3) ions are identified using ab initio energy level calculations. A few lines in C III were also observed and identified.
