In the literature only relatively little information is available abou
t the dust formation when bulk material is shifted. The amount of thes
e emissions depends upon the used device, the properties of the materi
als as well as the locality of activities. On the basis of only a few
published data, which include these parameters, a model has been desig
ned with which the assessment of generated emissions from all kinds of
materials and shifting procedures is possible. The comparison of the
results with emission factors or measurements, resp., given in the lit
erature quite often shows a good agreement.
