Abstract
The crystal field excitation linewidth Gamma(CF)(T) in the Tm-YBCO sys tem is calculated due to s-f interaction. By using a two-level approxi mation for crystal-field excitations, it is shown that antiferromagnet ic spin fluctuations in the CuO2 planes are important to explain the t emperature dependence of Gamma(CF).
