The specific heat of Fe substituted Bi1.8Pb0.2Sr2Ca(Cu1-xFex)(2)O-8 wa
s measured for x = 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8%. A large anomalous contribution
to the specific heat is observed below 15 K for the substituted sample
s. The anomaly suggests that Fe enters in the 3d(5) state, and that th
e samples are spin glasses in the superconducting state.
