The electrophoretic analysis of esterases in pear psylla elicits the p
resence of 2 well differenciated esterases with high activity. Their g
eographic distribution gradients show the existence a genetic flow bet
ween populations. LD50 for azymphos-methyl and deltamethrin are respec
tively 4 and 7 times higher for the population of Avignon than for Ano
gers and the synergistic action of DEF 2 and 5 times. Seasonal fluctua
tions of esterases activity and af susceptibility to azymphos-methyl h
ave been observed within the Avignon population. Our results support t
he hypothesis of a link between esterases activity and insecticide res
istance.
