J. Jamnik et al., INFORMATION ON IONIC BOUNDARY EFFECTS BY A NOVEL PENETRATION IMPEDANCE TECHNIQUE, Physica. B, Condensed matter, 204(1-4), 1995, pp. 57-64
A novel variant of the impedance technique is developed to study conta
ct problems. For this purpose the contact under investigation is coate
d with a dielectric layer through which the impedance is measured. Wit
h decreasing frequency more and more of the conducting material in con
tact with the electrode is detected. In this way not only a significan
t characterisation of the interface but also a spatial resolution is a
chieved. The main emphasis of this paper is on the experimental part a
nd the special advantages of this mode of measurement. Nonetheless, th
e theoretical background is concisely presented. The method is applied
to the Ag/AgCl interface. Results are discussed in the light of ionic
space charges.
