Abstract
We show that physical inconsistencies, occurring when considering Gaus sian corrections to the saddle-point solution within the Kotliar and R uckenstein four-slave-boson approach, can be removed by a proper treat ment of the continuum limit of the associated functional integral and by a consistent analytic choice of the bosonic hopping factor. Our res ults show good agreement with an exact cluster calculation.
