Abstract
Vortex penetration in thin flat samples in perpendicular fields is gov erned by geometrical barrier effect. The main features of this novel b arrier is vortex accumulation in the center of the sample and irrevers ible magnetization in the absence of bulk pinning. The developed theor etical model is confirmed by experimental results.
