Abstract
Polycrystalline La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 was irradiated with 3.5 GeV Xe31+ ion s. It is found that the ion-induced defects are operative as strong pi nning centers for magnetic fluxes and the critical current density inc reases even in high magnetic fields.
