Abstract
The use of (S)-alpha-methoxyphenyl acetic acid (MPAA) as a general chi ral H-1 NMR shift reagent for the stereochemical analysis of sulfoxide s is demonstrated. Using this methodology, both the enantiomeric purit y and the absolute configuration of a wide variety of sulfoxides can b e determined.
