Abstract
Synthetically prepared, optically pure samples of the rare Aristotelia alkaloids (+)-makomakine (1), (-)-hobartine (4), and (+)-aristoteline (7), were exposed to twelve selected fungal strains and have been sho wn to afford, sometimes in preparatively acceptable yield, known, as w ell as hitherto unknown hydroxylated derivatives thereof.
