Abstract
The synthesis is reported of some 3-deoxyflavylium chlorides by photoc yclization of 2-hydroxychalcone precursors; the corresponding flavyliu m-chromenol hydration constants were determined and the pK-structure r elationships are discussed in terms of the electronic and steric effec ts of the substituents.
