Abstract
This paper reports a method for instantaneous fault location on resist ance grounded system of underground cable. Based on a grounding test t o measure the temperature distribution near a fault point with thermoc ouples, we proposed a new fault location method that integrates the fi ber optic distributed temperature sensor (FODT sensor) into the cable. A grounding test on an optical fiber composite cable and a joint veri fied that the new method is of acceptable accuracy and reliability.
