This is a report on a patient of 74 years of age presenting with ear g
ain and bleeding granulations on his tympanic membrane. X-ray of the m
astoid revealed partial destruction of the bone structures and reduced
pneumatisation. A tumour that was mainly located in the temporal bone
was surgically removed and proved to be a leiomyosarcoma. This is the
first case of a leiomyosarcoma of the temporal bone to be described,
Differential diagnosis and therapy of this tumour are discussed.
