Abstract
Amplitude modulation of a class E power amplifier by variation of the collector-supply voltage is inherently highly linear. However, the res onance of the classical output network below the operating frequency c auses different attenuation of the two sidebands, resulting an envelop e distortion. In this paper we present a load network with finite DC f eed inductance that resonates at the operating frequency and therefore achieves a greatly reduced envelope distortion. Also, we analyze the influence of the output resistance of the modulating source, on the op erating parameters and component values of the proposed design.
