Four N-phosphonoamino acid methyl esters have been synthesized. The st
ructures were supported by P-31, H-1, NMR, IR and FAB-MS data. Two ste
reoisomers of each compound appeared in the P-31 NMR spectra. N-(O-iso
propyl methyl-phosphonyl)L-serine methyl ester was more reactive in ac
id than N-(O,O-diisopropyl)phosphoryl-L-serine eater, which underwent
rapid N-->O migration of the phosphorus group.
