KINETICS OF AQUATION OF BROMOPENTAMMINECOBALT(III) PERCHLORATE IN MIXED AQUEOUS SOLVENTS

The aquation kinetic of bromopentamminecobalt(III) ion have been inves tigated in glycerol-water and n-propanol-water mixtures at 35-60 degre es. The variation of the thermodynamic parameters Delta G#, Delta H# a nd Delta S# with the mole fraction of the organic solvent is discussed . Moreover, the linear isokinetic plots reveal the existence of a comp ensation effect due to a strong solute-solvent interaction. Finally th e rate coefficients are correlated with both the dielectric constant o f the medium and the water concentration according to recently propose d equations.
