Abstract
A series of enantiomerically pure chiral amino alcohols have been synt hesized and applied as modifiers in the enantioselective hydrogenation of ethyl pyruvate over supported Pt catalysts. Their use enabled an e nantiomeric excess of up to 75 %. A molecular modelling study of the m odifiers and reactant on a Pt (111) surface provides a possible explan ation for the observed enantiodifferentiation.
