Abstract
(2-Bromoethyl)benzene was subjected to biooxidation with whole cells o f Pseudomonas putida 39/D to yield (1S, 2R) 3-(2-bromoethyl)-cyclohexa -3,5-diene-1,2-diol 1 with an optical purity of 96%.
