Abstract
The breather dynamics of B-A transitions in a DNA double helix is cons idered, It is shown that nonlinear breathed excitations may appear in B-DNA under the transformation of the macromolecule fragment in the me tastable A-conformation. The possible role of breathers in the recogni tion of the functional DNA sites by proteins is discussed.
