Ab. Halim et al., THE CLINICAL-VALUE OF SERUM TISSUE POLYPEPTIDE SPECIFIC ANTIGEN (TPS)IN BREAST-CANCER PATIENTS, Journal of tumor marker oncology, 10(1), 1995, pp. 65-70
The aim of this work was to estimate the value of serum TPS in breast
cancer patients. 118 females were included; 88 with breast cancer and
30 normal healthy controls. TPS was determined using the enzyme immuno
assay reagents supplied by Beki Diagnostics AB, Bromma, Sweden. Result
s of the study revealed that serum TPS was significantly elevated in t
he breast cancer patients compared to the normal control group. At 100
% and 85% specificity, 37.5% and 53.4% of cancer patients showed value
s above the cut-off levels of 140 U/l and 100 U/l respectively. Serial
determination of TPS exhibited an excellent concordance with the clin
ical state of cancer patients after radical mastectomy.
