SOLID-VAPOR REACTIONS OF CHOLIC-ACID AND METHYL CHOLATE WITH ACETONITRILE - STRUCTURES AND REACTION-KINETICS

Both cholic acid and methyl cholate react to form 1:1 inclusion comple xes with acetonitrile either by crystallisation from solution or by so lid-vapour reaction. Crystal structures of cholic acid acetonitrile, m ethyl cholate . acetonitrile and methyl cholate alone are presented an d analysed for strong interactions in an attempt to reconcile the stru ctures of the reactants and products to kinetic data derived from abso rption and desorption reactions. Relative rates of absorption and esti mates of kinetic parameters, E(a) and In A, for the desorption reactio ns are presented.
