Nd. Mikhailov et al., CARBON AND OXYGEN ISOTOPIC COMPOSITION OF ACCESSORY CARBONATES FROM SALIFEROUS DEPOSITS OF THE PRIPYAT FLEXURE, Doklady Akademii nauk BSSR, 38(6), 1994, pp. 88-93
Accessory carbonates are characterized by the <<lighter>> isotopic com
position (delta C-13(m)==-6.8 parts per thousand, delta O-18(m)=21.8 p
arts per thousand). The obtained values of delta O-18 are related to b
oth the inversion behaviour of oxygen isotopes in concentrated brines,
and variations of the carbonate crystallization temperatures during s
edimentation and catagenesis. The model crystallization temperatures h
ave been calculated from the delta O-18 values. The carbon isotopic co
mposition is interpreted proceeding from the effect of heterogenous so
urces of CO2, nonequilibrium processes of the carbonate formation, and
, possibly, their temperature regime.
