H. Kuzmany et B. Burger, VIBRATIONAL SPECTROSCOPY OF METALLIC-CONDUCTORS, SEMICONDUCTORS, AND SUPERCONDUCTORS, Journal of molecular structure, 347, 1995, pp. 39-55
A review on vibrational spectroscopy in metallic, semiconducting and s
uperconducting systems is given. The first part is tutorial and descri
bes the differences between vibrational spectroscopy in molecules and
in solids and compares various basic experimental techniques like IR-s
pectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and neutron scattering. Examples from
the field of semiconductors, conductors and superconductors are discus
sed. In the second part new results from vibrational spectroscopy in t
he field of fullerenes for the insulating and for the metallic state a
re given. Evidence for various phase transitions and for a strong and
highly selective electron-phonon interaction is demonstrated from Rama
n scattering and IR reflectivity experiments.
