We study the asymptotic convergence of initial and final wavefunctions
in scattering involving Coulomb potentials. We analyse the case of io
n-atom collisions at both non relativistic and relativistic energies a
nd the solutions obtained by using distorted wave models. We show that
the Symmetric Eikonal and the Continuum Distorted Wave models exhibit
Coulomb-type residual perturbative potentials although they preserve
correct boundary conditions.
