The paper outlines a method for directly estimating specific pasture a
ttributes associated with pasture quality and stability, such as leaf
blade, legume and litter yield, percent bare ground and green cover, b
y visual techniques. These estimates can be performed independently of
calibrated, visual estimation techniques used for determining total y
ield and species composition, such as BOTANAL, although normally they
would be done in conjunction with them. Advantages of and limitations
to the procedure are discussed.
