Since 1979 observations of atmospheric minor species are carried out a
t the scientific station Kislovodsk of the Institute of Atmospheric Ph
ysics situated in a distant from pollution sources area of the North C
aucasus at the altitude 2070 m a. s. 1. The results of the long-term m
easurements of the total content and the vertical distribution of ozon
e and NO2 as well as of the surface ozone concentration, UV radiation
and the degree of polarization of the scattered solar radiation are pr
esented. Some aspects of their long-term changes, seasonal and daily v
ariations are highlighted. It is shown that variations of the minor sp
ecies content are causes by the local, mesoscale and global dynamic pr
ocesses which are specific for this observational site. Significant ch
anges are induced by powerful volcanic eruptions. The observations at
station Kislovodsk characterize the background state of the atmosphere
over the continent.
