Mo. Bristeau et al., SOLVING THE HELMHOLTZ-EQUATION AT HIGH-WAVE NUMBERS ON A PARALLEL COMPUTER WITH A SHARED VIRTUAL MEMORY, The international journal of supercomputer applications and high performance computing, 9(1), 1995, pp. 18-28
In this paper, we address the implementation of finite element codes o
n a parallel computer providing a shared virtual memory. We solve the
Helmholtz equation at high-wave numbers by a method combining the leas
t-squares formulation and finite-element discretization. Numerical exp
eriments concerning the scattering of planar waves by nonconvex obstac
les show the efficiency of the new algorithm. Parallelism relies heavi
ly on shared variables and parallel loops; performances are enhanced b
y considering local versus global nodes and by renumbering the mesh. E
xperiments are implemented on a KSR computer with up to 20 processors.
