In terms of multiple-scattering theory by the method of local coherent
potentials the empty part of the electronic density of states and int
erference effects due to scattering by different coordination spheres
of clusters centered at the X-ray absorbing atoms have been investigat
ed. The significance of the interference effects has been shown. The c
alculations have been performed for TiSi2 and TiC. The theoretical for
ms of local partial DOS correspond to experimental XANES and EELS.
