Health-related Quality of Life (HRQOL) status is a meaningful part of
assessing the impact of disease in patients with chronic bowel disorde
rs. It is influenced by the clinical condition but also by environment
al and patient-related factors. This manuscript will highlight how HRQ
OL measurement can be used in chronic bowel disorders, using examples
in inflammatory bower disease, and how different types of instruments
or study design may change the picture of health status.
