XAFS of atomic, clustered, and solid krypton is reported in the Kr(2p)
regime (1660-1760 eV) using monochromatized synchrotron radiation. Sp
ectral features are observed in the near-edge regime corresponding to
low lying exciton states in clusters and in the solid. These are chara
cteristically blueshifted by 0.5 eV compared to the atomic Rydberg sta
tes. Additional features in the Kr(2p) continuum are assigned to EXAFS
oscillations, which are analyzed with FEFF6 calculations.
